In three minutes. lets bring in rachel day, co-author of the politico playbook. ive listened to that clip, every iteration of that clip a half a dozen times trying to figure out is there wiggle room there. i cant support, quote, this piece of legislation. you have new reporting in the playbook this morning that the white house may be looking for a way to work around some of these concerns? >> yeah. were just about to hit send on that playbook this morning. yeah, look. i mean, the white house say...

Damage because some of the things the administration has done or is about to do, and they dont see any self-correcting mechanisms within government itself. its kind of like squeezing the toothpaste tube tight with the cap still on. under that kind of pressure, that toothpaste will come out. here it comes out in the form of leaks which again, i cant endorse, i cant support, but i agree with you, an awful lot of this would be unknown to the american people. michael flynn could still be national se...

In the hours after these people have been savagely murdered just seemed absurd. and yet there doesnt seem to be the same kind of like accountability for that so far. >> its just weird. and another thing to keep in mind looking at these just genuinely honestly confusing things hes said about guns is that in the past carsons actually gotten a lot of flak from second amendment hard-liners because of his stances. he told glenn beck i believe in 2014 that he thought there might need to be tighter gun...

Really inflammatory. i thought just to editorialize for a moment here, i thought the thing he said about the oregon massacre was really in terrible taste and also just sort of preposterous. like to use the word "cooperate" in the hours after these people have been savagely murdered just seemed absurd. and yet there doesnt seem to be the same kind of like accountability for that so far. >> its just weird. and another thing to keep in mind looking at these just genuinely honestly confusing things ...

But we know that todays carveouts are tomorrows loopholes and thats the concern of to us of this bill, i believe, would do more to limit the rights of the law abiding citizens than to prevent violent crime and thats why i cant support. >> can i disagree? there is so much in these bills that have nothing to do with law abiding citizens. they specifically work with criminals. my bill in new york state 85% of the weapons used in crimes come from out of state and 90% are illegal. youre talking nine ...

Seeing so much is that youre seeing government professionals who think theyre reaching their limits in terms of containing damage because some of the things the administration has done or is about to do, and they dont see any self correcting mechanisms within government itself. its kind of like squeezing the toothpaste tube tight with the cap still on. under that kind of pressure, that toothpaste will come out. here it comes out in the form of leaks which again, i cant endorse, i cant support, b...
