A huge fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at a senior apartment complex in Southgate, resulting in major damage to the facility and injuries to several people.

Densmore has a history of firefighting. Both his father and grandfather were volunteers with the Hamburg Township department. 

“I just want to thank him for his years of service,” Melvindale Mayor Wheeler Marsee said. “He has served the Melvindale community well.”

The honorees in this special category will receive the same distinctive window decal as those homes selected in the overall RSOE program.
