No word how many could be trapped and what caused the collapse. Here is what the mayor said a short time ago. They were doing roof work on the building at the time. Certainly that doesnt seem like it would be the issue that would have caused it. Some of the residents at the Community Center have complained to me the new building that went up to the south used to shake the building when they were putting the pilings in. We need to look hard at what happened there and find out because buildings just dont fall down like this. We had the dogs out there probably a few hours ago over the collapsed area and were just not getting any hits which is really heartbreaking. Bill its a sound bite that captures the moment for what were trying to understand really beneath the rubble. Dana one thing we do know the building was going under a renovation of some sorts. That might have perhaps contributed to this terrible situation. Bill the authorities have been we see the sirens all night long. At the mo

Thanks very much for joining us and my guests here in the studio in the burlington are professor Susanna Schreiber from the german Ethics Council, who says, in theory, we know how best to distribute limited supplies of the vaccine. The real challenge is putting these ideas into practice. Also with us is yunior fischer, a former doctor, now a journalist and she believes the vaccine is a ray of hope. But tough times she says, still lie ahead for all of us, and a very warm welcome to try to be as quote, professor for Public Health at the d. B. Ology of Berlin Charity hospital. Who argues that the news of an effective vaccine is good. But it shouldnt distract from the many problems posed by the pandemic. Thank you all 3 for being here. I would like to begin with you. Theres so much to talk about. Some people are talking about a shimmer of hope. Light, the end of the tunnel. I saw though one commentator saying, we find ourselves in the midst of an all to him of resignation. Stuff. Is it too
48 after the event. Let me say a few words about our speaker. now in his second tm of te u. S. Civil rights commissions book the moral foundation of economic behavior was nominated for the highest book prize in his latest book which is the subject of our talk today is on why culture matters most. This is an extremely important book given the political and cultural crisis that we now find ourselves in here in america. Think about it, the institutions that are supposed to hand down the great cultural inheritance of western civilization, the civilization upon which the United States faced are failing miserably at the respective tasks in education, media, the arts, business, politics. Its hard to think of an Important Institution in America Today that takes seriously the virtues and the ideals that make it possible it requires a trust, high trust society. Many would argue that this is the one type of society we do not now have. We seem to be educating the next generation intellectually, mo
My friend chuck for their remarks. I will have more to say to them later. On march 9th, 1967, senator howard baker junior, the newly elected senator from tennessee made his maiden address, his first speech on the floor of the senate. He spoke for too long. The republican leader of the senate who was also bakers father in law, walked to congratulate him and said howard, occasionally you might enjoy the luxury of unexpressed thought. Which is good advice for farewell address as well. Senator bakers legislative assistant, i was also a speechwriter that made an address, or at least i thought i was. He developed a bad habit of not saying what i wrote for his speech. I asked to see him, do i have a problem with our relationship . Write what you want to write and say what i want to say. I learned a couple other things about saying what i want to say. One came from alex haley, the author of roots, you heard him speak once and said may i make a suggestion . If when you begin a speech you would
