Several community members spoke against the plan last week during a Virginia Beach Planning Commission meeting.

Franklin Johnston Group is applying for a conditional rezoning permit to build an apartment project called the Silo at Southern Pines. The plans call for approximately 400 units including around 50 that will be “workforce housing,” offered at 25% below market rate.

A yet-to-be named medical equipment manufacturing company could build a facility in the southern part of the city. The public will have a chance to weigh in on the rezoning proposal at a public hearing May 16.
