Comic Relief US held their inaugural gala in Manhattan, New York, all in an effort to raise funds and awareness for intergenerational poverty.

For more than 1-in-3 children who grow up in poverty, the American Dream stays out of reach. Held back by a daunting combination of disadvantages faced by people who grow up in low-income households, they remain poor in adulthood.

A first-of-its-kind program in the nation will give babies born into poverty in Connecticut a $3,200 bond that will grow as they do.
