The Pella High School 11/12 Concert Band from Pella has been selected to represent all 3A high school concert bands at this year’s Iowa Bandmasters Association conference. This sixty-seven (67) student ensemble is under the direction of Dameon Place and also taught by Gabe Schott, Jeff Robilliard, and Derek Stratton. This is the Pella High School 11/12 Concert Band’s fourth appearance at the Iowa Bandmasters Conference, having also performed in 1986, 1991, and 2015. Bands submit recordings in early January and are selected by a listening panel through a blind audition process, and are considered the premier performing ensembles in Iowa schools and selection to perform at the IBA Conference is one of the highest honors awarded for any band in the state. Virtual performances will take place at the 94th IBA Conference, May 9-11, 2021.

Senior Erin Nossaman has been thankful for the opportunity to perform this year in both concert band and with Pella Jazz One. Nossaman says all jazz bands perform today as part of their annual clinic and concert.
