Big changes are coming to the off-Strip casino

Dreamscape bought the Rio from Caesars Entertainment in 2019 and are now enthusiastically re-energizing a resort that’s been around since 1990.

The goal of many of these projects is to restore the Rio with a “wink and nod” to a previous era of the property, new resort operators said.

From new restaurants to new music residencies to plenty of places to play, plus a little event known as the Super Bowl, here’s a look at some of what’s to come.

Nothing stays the same for long in Las Vegas – especially its resort rooms.

Rio Rewards has four tiers and will reward guests with accommodations, show tickets, early check-in/late checkout, monthly dining credits and daily drink vouchers.

New owners took over the Rio earlier this month and they’re quickly moving to make their mark on the off-Strip resort.

After opening in 1990 as Las Vegas’ premier off-Strip resort, the Rio lost much of its luster over the years after being sold and generally neglected.

Original Rio developer Anthony Marnell has been hired 33 years later to help turn Eric Birnbaum’s Rio redevelopment plans into more than a Dreamscape.

New owner Dreamscape said the Ipanema Tower will remain open while work is underway.
