the famed washington national cathedral on fire. backpacks and oversized bags will no longer be permitted inside the national cathedral. and in las vegas, the city is installing 800 safety posts along the strip to stop potential vehicle attacks. and sending in a record number of national guard soldiers. everyone on heightened alert. linsey davis joins us live in times square. and we heard that message from the department of homeland security there, urging travelers to be alert. and linsey, you were telling us, law enforcement tonight continues to be concerned about isis propaganda? reporter: yeah, law enforcement officials are saying that they are increasingly concerned. they say, based on the call to arms by isis, they say that it has created a credible concern. but at the same time, they say there are no specific threats, but david, you see this increased police presence right behind me. linsey davis with us live tonight. linsey, thank you. there is also extra vigilance, extr
o america, die in your rage! authorities say ullah intended to die while killing as many people as possible in that tunnel, but before the attempted attack, he was not on the nypd or fbi s radar. tonight, they say, he had become radicalized online in 2014, reading isis propaganda. in this brooklyn apartment, building the pipe bomb over the past few weeks, using the pipe, a 9-volt battery, and a wire from christmas lights. he did follow some of the instructions that you could find readily online, unfortunately. reporter: a quarter million people go through port authority every day, including former homeland security chief jeh johnson. events like this happen but we re strong, we re resilient. we go on. and we re not afraid. reporter: the bombing coming just six weeks after the isis-inspired truck attack in lower manhattan, and a year after the bombings in the chelsea neighborhood. and gio benitez with us from that reopened tunnel, where that blast went off. the resilience of
it will be a multi-pronged approach. jillian: how do you get people on board with that line of thinking to have that surveillance? reporter: a lot of people are against it but you have to educate people is constitutional and what is not, a lot of people think because they are uncomfortable that that is unconstitutional or unlawful and that is not true. the constitution is not a suicide pact. we don t have to allow people who wish harm on americans to be doing that. law enforcement has to get into those communities, establish trust. a lot of these terrorists radicalized over time have indicators they are becoming radicalized so friends and family have to be willing to go to law enforcement and let them know this guy is becoming radicalized, he was peaceful a couple years ago and now watching isis propaganda videos, there needs to be stronger ties in the communities, to prevent them from committing terrorist attacks. jillian: this can happen in any
