else that has to put this administration in an internal crisis. they don t know where it will lead either. you re not the first democrat to call for the itch impeachment of president trump. but this is what the democratic whip in the house, steny hoyer, this is his reaction to your effort in an interview with washington examiner saying i think we have made it clear that impeachment is ple mature and not necessarily off the table in the future and premature in this point in time and seeing the mueller investigation intensify, do you think that helps make your case for congress to act or could the case be made, let mueller finish what he is doing? well, i think that obviously i believe that the case is already been made before mr. mueller has reported. because the fact of the matter
as a result of this indictment. i think there s some possibility that it is just low level people, that mueller is working the way up. the food chain and trying to get people to flip. but it s also possible that we are going to see the first indictment of a headline name in this case. people against whom the evidence is piled up mightily and time for mule tore finally move so i think it s 48 hours of huge speculation, in washington as we wait and see really who s going to wind up being the first person or persons indicted by counsel mueller. yeah. informed speculation with david corn. you have great sources, among the first to report on that dossier that republicans tried to hang around hillary clinton as if who paid for it is the important thing. give us a little bit of a benefit of what you are hearing or speculating about, who, who, who, as ron just said. i think it would be a little bit unfair to speculate on names. we do know it s been reported that special counsel told paul
and say that to the extent that he can limit that activity, and focus on the actual positive things his administration is doing on the regulatory side and judiciary and other areas, and the progress that they re making on the tax bill, all those things, are going to be much better. look, you have presidents who have had bad character in the past. go back to bill clinton. the american public looked aside and said yeah, we don t like the things he s doing, but, you know, he s governing effectively and we re going to stick with him. donald trump is going to have the same effect but he has to start delivering things and in my opinion tone down the others. just case in point his latest tweet we have is about hillary clinton and collusion and russia when he can tweet about these numbers. u.s. economic growth great in the last quarter. 3%. look here s what i say about that, part of it is, no offense to cnn and other news stations is there s a preoccupation in the news cycle to go
so is it possible that the president still doesn t understand the line? i certainly think that for someone who came into government as the president, that there is a learning curve. that learning curve is going to last through the duration of the administration. you can just expect that it will flatten out as time goes on. i also agree that white house counsel don mcgahn is doing an awful lot of educating but that is what a lawyer is supposed to do and provide the guard rails. were they provided in this case? i don t know the taens to that. but let s assume for the moment they were. just for purposes of discussion. then it s up to the president to decide how to proceed. a lot of people forget even when you are the attorney general of the country or of the state, as i was, lawyers advise, clients decide. and heel make a decision how to proceed even if it s atypical as long as he stays inside the law.
