has all but canceled all flights going in and out, major air carriers have been canceling flights, of course, philadelphia has now shut down all the flights coming in and out of that airport. if you re going to travel, call ahead and be extra careful. a lot of transportation officials telling us if you have going to brave the roads, make sure you have an emergency kit with you in your car, make sure your cell phone is charged. it is an absolute mess out there, and traffic out here on sixth avenue has been going up and down the street, but certainly a lot slower than we re used to seeing. i remember when i first moved to the new york city area around 1989, 1990 or so, i was in one of my first new york city taxi rides, which is an experience unto itself, and i asked the guy what happens when it snows here, he said oh, it doesn t snow in new york city anymore. i d like to find that guy now. reporter: he might be out there cruising around. one of the things that we ve been watching h
bringing whiteout conditions from d.c. up towards philadelphia and in towards new york city. blizzard warnings are in effect. we have to take those very seriously. there s the radar now, washington, d.c. getting snow, baltimore, 1-3 inches of snow an area in the areas hard hit from the last storm system. north of d.c., they got 40 inches of snow, so can you imagine, 10-12 inches on top of that? we re going to have a really dangerous scenario. looks pretty outside, but mou we re going into dangerous conditions. here are the expected snow totals, 16-24, philadelphia, they got walloped a couple days ago, another foot on top of that is going to cripple this region. baltimore, 12-1, d.c., 12-16, new york, 10-14, and boston, 6-10 for you. so this is what we re dealing with in terms of blizzard conditions. this is why we ve got the national guard out, we ve got local authorities saying please, do not be on the roads, don t be outside if
