LOWELL — Wellington LLC, which requested several variances from the Zoning Board of Appeals to develop the property located at 65 Wellington Ave., withdrew their application during a meeting held Thursday night, after fierce neighborhood pushback and comments from several board members that the application would not be approved.

LOWELL — Mary Burns, whose petition to build a single-family home on an undersized, vacant lot on Gibson Street was denied by the Zoning Board of Appeals in a 4-2 vote Sept. 11, has filed a complaint with the State Ethics Commission, for what she says was a process that was unfairly influenced by the actions of City Councilor Erik Gitschier.

LOWELL — Persistent, united and vocal neighborhood opposition resulted in the Zoning Board of Appeals denying petitioner Mary Burns’ request for multiple variances to build a single-family house on an undersized vacant lot at 209 Gibson St.

LOWELL — Mary Burns’ family has owned the vacant lot located at 209 Gibson St. since 1962. Where the neighbors see an eyesore, with the 4,000-square-foot lot overgrown with trees and vines and strewn with trash, Burns sees a buildable lot that could be the new home to a family.
