A Salem man drowned Friday morning in Horseshoe Bend. According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Charlie LaFevers was pronounced dead after being pulled from Crown Lake.
Chief Deputy Charley Melton says LaFevers was attempting to unclog a drain from recent flooding. He was pulled into the spillway on the lake.
The Izard County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Horseshoe Bend Fire Department, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Vital Link and the Izard County Office of Emergency Management.
