A Salem man drowned Friday morning in Horseshoe Bend. According to the Izard County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Charlie LaFevers was pronounced dead after being pulled from Crown Lake. Chief Deputy Charley Melton says LaFevers was attempting to unclog a drain from recent flooding. He was pulled into the spillway on the lake. The latest unemployment numbers for the area show 9 of the twelve counties in the KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot listening area saw increases during the month of February. The Arkansas Division of Workforce Services numbers show Baxter County is tied for the 23rd lowest rate in the state, out of 75 counties, at 5.1%. That number is up slightly from 4.8% in January.
