Two terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Nowpora area of Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla District on Friday (Apr 26). According to security officials, two bodies of terrorists are lying at the operation site and their identities are yet to be ascertained.

The latest attack reinforces the trend of fewer yet more impactful and high visibility terror attacks in the areas south of Pir Panjal as compared to the Valley.

Official sources said one of the infiltrators was injured in the firing by the Army troops guarding the LoC at a post in the Khari area and has been hospitalised.

The development is seen as a major success in the fight against the terror network in Pir Panjal region, comprising Poonch and Rajouri districts, which has seen a spurt in militant activities over the last few months.

Militants hurled a grenade outside a CRPF camp at Safakadal in Srinagar on Thursday.
