An Epicheloniceras ammonite was recovered from a fallen block from the Lower Greensand on the Isle of Wights southwest coast.

Fossil hunter Jack Wonfor, 22, recovered the huge ammonite in an area on the Isle of Wight known as Dinosaur Island.

The Isle of Wight fossil weighed almost 18 stone and dates back some 115 million years.

Thinking it was a piece of plastic floating, he picked it up, only to be surprised when the whole fossil emerged.
