Convicted murderer Jacob Wayne Schmidt, 28, has been sentenced to the maximum term of 15 years to life in prison for fatally running over another man with his car.

An eight-person jury found a Cedar City man guilty of murder for running over a man in the Home Depot parking lot. The two men knew each other, and had recently been in a fight.

A jury determined a Cedar City man, Jacob Wayne Schmidt, is guilty of murder for hitting a man he knew with a vehicle, ultimately causing his death in 2020.
