The WDC High School chapter of the Business Professionals of America competed in the Minnesota Spring Leadership Conference. Thirteen will advance to the National BPA Leadership Conference in May.

Nine students from the Wadena/Verndale speech team qualified for sections, and six made it to the final round.

On April 6th, the Verndale speech team traveled to Pequot Lakes to compete in the Sub-Sections competition. Several speakers advanced to Sections, which will be hosted at Menahga on April 13th.

Students in sixth through 12th grades from Cass, Crow Wing, Morrison, Todd and Wadena counties faced off against other teams Feb. 21-23 at Central Lakes College in Staples in a regional competition.

14 students made the trip to nationals after qualifying at the state event.

The students placed within the top 10 in their events with topics from finance to law, digital design, healthcare and computer programming. Many students competed in-person for their first state competition after competing virtually due to the pandemic.
