Bass fishermen have less than a month before the Chamber of Commerce’s annual bass tournament. The tournament is scheduled for March 16 and 17.  It was once the Record-Bee/Bruno’s bass tournament and at one time it was the largest bass tournament in Western United States with 225 teams. This year’s tournament is expected to draw approximately 100 teams. Clear Lake bass fishermen are having to dress warmly to fight off the cold weather. In the morning the temperatures have been dipping down to below freezing. The good news is that late afternoon the sunny weather has been pushing the temps up to over the 50 degree mark and the fish have been biting. The bass are holding out in the deeper water. Live jumbo minnows have been the top fish catcher. All the local tackle shops have the jumbo minnows.
