The Lincoln men’s basketball team will get its chance against a perennial powerhouse in the 21st-ranked and conference-leading Northwest Missouri Bearcats today. Tip-off for the men’s contest is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the second leg of the MIAA doubleheader at Jason Gym.
Coming off a victory to open MIAA play, the Lincoln Blue Tigers’ women’s basketball team will look to move to 2-0 in conference play at 1:30 p.m. today on the road against the Central Oklahoma Bronchos. The men are coming off a 70-67 victory Thursday against the Newman Jets, while the women started the doubleheader with an 83-71 victory.
KEARNEY, Neb. The Lincoln men’s basketball team picked up another season sweep Saturday with its 63-49 victory against the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers in MIAA play.
The Lincoln Blue Tigers have proven they can win games in a variety of ways this season, but Saturday’s defensive slugfust against the Central Missouri Mules is where they thrive. The Blue Tigers limited the Mules to 32 percent shooting from the field and used a late run to grab a 57-49 victory in MIAA play to complete a season sweep of Central Missouri, Lincoln’s first sweep in the season series since 1986-87.
There are dominating victories and then there’s a whole different category the Lincoln Blue Tigers reached Saturday at Jason Gym. The Blue Tigers shot 65 percent as a team and led wire-to-wire for a 128-36 victory against the Calvary Spartans to cap off the program’s first 3-0 start to a season since 2015-16.
