Here’s a look back at the KC Roos’ men’s basketball game on Sunday.

The season has come full circle for the Lincoln Blue Tigers’ men’s basketball team. Lincoln (17-9, 13-9 MIAA) started the year by defeating UMKC 59-56 in its first exhibition game and now the Blue Tigers are set to open the MIAA Conference Tournament at noon today against the Emporia State Hornets (21-7, 15-7) at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.

After all the magic the Lincoln Blue Tigers had pulled off at Jason Gym this season, it felt inevitable they would erase their 15-point deficit Saturday against the Emporia State Hornets and find a way to win on Senior Day. But the Blue Tigers ran out of magic tricks and fell just short, as a game-high 32 points from Owen Long pushed the Hornets to a 72-66 victory and into sole possession of third place in the MIAA with two games left.

It will be a big afternoon for the Lincoln Blue Tigers men’s basketball program at Jason Gym. Not only will the Blue Tigers honor their five seniors for Senior Day before today’s game, but they will have the opportunity to jump into sole possession of third place in the MIAA standings when they square off with the Emporia State Hornets. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.

It had been since December 1957 since the Lincoln Blue Tigers had beaten the Washburn Ichabods at home. That ended Thursday night, as the Blue Tigers jumped out to an early lead and held on late for a 64-58 victory against the Ichabods for an MIAA win in front of a season-high 1,101 people in attendance at Jason Gym.

The Lincoln Blue Tigers will look to extend their five-game home winning streak tonight when they host the Washburn Ichabods in MIAA men’s basketball action. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Jason Gym.

KEARNEY, Neb. — The Lincoln men’s basketball team picked up another season sweep Saturday with its 63-49 victory against the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers in MIAA play.
