Baltimore RNLI were called out during Storm Agnes this afternoon to assist a yacht which was dragging its anchor in the Ilen River in West Cork.

The volunteer crew onboard the lifeboat were able to free the casualty vessel from the trailing fishing gear

The unit was deployed to provide assistance to the motor boat with two people on board at 4.40pm.

Due to navigational difficulties the sailors were having, the RNLI decided a tow was necessary and the safest option to assist them

The volunteer lifeboat crew launched their inshore lifeboat at 11:45am, following a request from the Irish Coast Guard.
