0 of 9 Charles Krupa/Associated Press With little besides training camps standing in the way of the 2021 NFL season, now is a good time to step back and play the projections game.  Now that the draft is over, we can include it in projecting the worst moves of the offseason to this point. At about this time last year, the worst moves werent too difficult to figure out. The Chicago Bears had traded for Nick Foles. The Houston Texans had dealt DeAndre Hopkins. Green Bay drafted Jordan Love.  Thi...

Is Pat Freiermuth the next TJ Hockenson? By KansasCitySteelers on May 4, 2021, 7:17pm EDT + No. The answer to the question in the title is emphatically, definitely, absolutely no. It may be that Freiermuth is the next Travis Kelce. It also may be that Tommy Tremble is the next George Kittle. Im rooting for Freiermuth to be a truly elite TE and a difference maker on the field, dont get me wrong, but I still have to rant about the over-valuing of TEs by fans who see this as a great...

Three rookies that could be the defensive rookie of the year With so much talent on the defensive side of the ball, what rookies could win the defensive rookie of the year award? Author: May 5, 2021 This class was very offensive-heavy, but there are still several talented defenders who can make an impact early on in their careers. That being said, to win the rookie of the year as a defender, a player essentially has to be a first-round pick. The last defensive rookie of the year on defense was ...

ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Football Team coach Ron Rivera noticed when the Kansas City Chiefs made their big move four years ago. He paid attention to the aggressive trades the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams made this offseason. Those teams had their rosters ready; they just needed a quarterback they believed could take them further. And when they found that player, they struck: The Chiefs traded from the No. 27 pick to No. 10 to draft Patrick Mahomes in 2017, and the 49ers moved up n...

We heard rumblings about 24 hours before the first round that the Cardinals were likely to take Collins, though he was someone expected to go in the mid-to-late 20’s. Could they have traded back and landed him? Maybe. But his versatility combined with that of Isaiah Simmons and Budda Baker make this a tough defense to play against. Moore makes so much sense in the second round, as we still don’t know if Larry Fitzgerald will return. No matter what, he’s a perfect fit to play the slot in t...

A season of possibilities Brad Mills-USA TODAY Sports Opinions, certainly those about sports, become entrenched quickly. I might read a compelling article about a coach, player or team, and get a narrative in my head, whether positive or negative, that sticks with me for a long time. Interact with a NY Giants fan, and they’ll laugh (or cry) about Ereck Flowers as an NFL lineman, but in his one year in Washington, he played well. Giants fans are entrenched in their opinions of him — he’...

Evaluating the WFT’s 2021 draft through the lens of the Draft Commandments Time for a reckoning Photo by Gregory Shamus/Getty Images In the week leading up to the 2021 draft, I published 6 Draft Commandments, essentially guideposts by which I think good teams can make solid decisions as they move into and through the NFL draft. Now, in the hangover period after the draft is over, I’d like to take a look at how our new front office may have applied (or not) each of those commandments to thei...

Copied! The Washington Football Team no longer has a young, highly drafted quarterback to groom as a franchise signal-caller. Savvy veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick is set to start with Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen battling for backup duties in 2021. The long-term plan remains a question mark. Sitting with the No. 19 overall pick in the 2021 draft and watching quarterbacks Justin Fields and Mac Jones fall out of the top 10, Washington could have tried to make a move up the draft...

Jason Marcum - Sea of Blue Another member of the “Big Blue Wall” with get a shot at the next level, as Landon Young was drafted 206th overall by the New Orleans Saints in Round 6. He’s the fifth Wildcat to be drafted this year, joining Jamin Davis (Washington Football Team), Kelvin Joseph (Dallas Cowboys), Quinton Bohanna (Dallas) and Brandin Echols (New York Jets). Young, a Kentucky native, was part of a 2020 senior class that won 37 games, went to five consecutive bowl games, and won s...

The Washington Football Team rounded out its 2021 draft class Saturday with three picks in the seventh round, selecting Baylor defensive end William Bradley-King at No. 240, Penn State defensive end Shaka Toney at No. 246 and BYU wide receiver Dax Milne at No. 258.
