Oakland begins to clear out, shut down of Wood Street homeless encampment as unhoused residents vow to fight until the end.

The Wood Street homeless encampment in West Oakland is in its second phase of evictions as Caltrans contractors clear piles of trash, RVs, cars and other hazards. But some unhoused residents are refusing to leave.

Advocates and first responders are taking action to keep the homeless hydrated and say unhoused residents are at the highest risk for dehydration, heat stroke and other medical emergencies.
