Jan 12, 2021 7:47 AM The next step to develop housing on Cameron Way in Yorkton has been taken. Mayor Mitch Hippsley states that there is a need for low to moderate cost housing in the city. If fully approved, 27 condos will be constructed. Meantime, the first Civic Recognition Award was handed out at Yorkton city council. Jason Boyda took the award in the adult category, as he was recognized for his work as a teacher, and as a coach for basketball and football.

Mayor Mitch Hippsley states the council decided to defer the payments instead. Also last night, Council approved a water and sewer rate increase, and named the Civic Recognition Award winners: Jason Boyda was the adult award winner, Katelyn Anderson won the youth category, and the Farming for Health organization took home the group honors.

In making the announcement Jessica Matsalla City Clerk, with the City provided a brief bio on the recipients. Jason Boyda, a teacher at Yorkdale school, has been a resident of Yorkton for the past 11 years, and has been “all-in” with the community since he moved here. He is a dedicated coach for sports (for all levels), mainly football and basketball.
