Cpl. Miguel A. Maya, 23, assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 303, worked as a helicopter avionics technician

Officials with 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Communication Strategy & Operations said Cpl. Miguel A. Maya, a 23-year-old Texas native, died on April 23 “as a result of an aviation ground mishap.”

Cpl. Miguel A. Maya was a member of Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron, or HMLAT, 303. The incident is still under investigation, according to 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, or 3rd MAW, the squadron's parent unit.

Marine Cpl. Miguel Maya died Tuesday following an "aviation ground mishap" at Camp Pendleton during "routine military operations," the Marines said.
