A few weeks ago, I saw a Facebook event posting for an “electric violinist.” Now there’s a listing you don’t see every day when looking for “live music” in Hendersonville.
Granted, sometimes I see fiddlers who play bluegrass or country. I see an occasional violinist who is part of a band or ensemble. This might be the first time I’ve seen an electric violinist playing solo at one of Hendo’s popular venues.
I was intrigued and wanted to know more. The violinist is Paul Rene McIntire of Asheville. He’ll be playing Sunday afternoon at Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards.

GLEN CARBON – While ice might have been strong enough to permit people to walk on local ice-covered lakes and ponds between Feb. 5 and Feb. 20, doing so after last Saturday is potentially dangerous, as an ice rescue in the Lakewood Subdivision proved.
Someone in the subdivision called the Glen Carbon Fire Protection District at 4:38 p.m. Tuesday to report a large dog was on the ice behind a residence. En route to the scene, fire units received an update that two men had ventured onto the ice to retrieve the dog.

If you’re a Dead Head, you know there is something special about the Grateful Dead, that iconic ‘70s band from California that personified the counter culture with its extensive world touring and diehard fan base.
Whenever I see a tie-dyed T-shirt, I can’t help but hear Truckin’ in my mind.
No one can truly re-create the sound or attitude of the Dead, but Asheville’s Dirty Dead will honor them this Friday night at Mills River Brewing Co.
Don’t expect to hear this band of six men imitate the Dead - expect to hear Dead songs (and others) with a bit more grit.
