Mayor Gary van Niekerk has attempted to interfere in the administration of the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality, instructing that all legal briefs pertaining to the city be placed on hold with immediate effect. His letter to acting city boss Sidima Dyani and the legal services department on Wednesday took centre stage at Thursday’s council meeting, where opposition parties accused him of unlawfully overstepping into the administration.

Claims that the Nelson Mandela Bay municipality’s chief operating officer (COO), Sidima Dyani, lied about being in the employ of a Johannesburg entity, and about the salary he was receiving at the time, to negotiate for a higher salary with the metro, have been handed over to the Hawks.

In an almost by the way comment at this weeks Aspen Chamber Resort Association monthly meeting, Jeff Bay, the assistant treasurer of the associations executive committee, shared a startling update.
