A Grand Chute town supervisor is charged with illegally benefiting from a public contract, after his company got paid nearly $28,000 for landscaping work.

Grand Chute Town Supervisor Ron Wolff is charged with a felony for accepting a landscaping contract with Grand Chute while a member of the town board.

A judge ruled Friday that Grand Chute Supervisor Ron Wolff will be allowed to take a "good faith affirmative defense" at trial for having private interest in a public contract.

The top two finishers will advance to the April 2 election.

Defendants Jason Van Eperen, Jeff Ings and Ron Wolff assert that March's claims "are barred in whole or in part by qualified immunity."

Ron Wolff, Jeff Ings, and Jason Van Eperen were served the lawsuit Jim March filed late last week against them and the Town of Grand Chute during the beginning of the Town Board meeting Tuesday evening.

Supervisor Beth English said the search for a new administrator "really borders on secrecy, and this town deserves better."
