The awards, considered the Oscars of the culinary world, were presented Monday night at the Lyric Opera House.

The James Beard Foundation will soon be giving out honors for Lifetime Achievement, Humanitarian of the Year, Chef and Restaurant awards and more.

The Chicago Tea Festival, Handmade Market and Northwest Brewfest also return this weekend.

The James Beard Foundation announced its finalists for Best Chefs. Indiana chefs didn't make the cut this year.

Seventeen local eateries/chefs had been nominated as semifinalists earlier this year.

"Although my name’s attached to the nomination, it’s really (my whole team) who are the backbone and I just want to make sure that they’re acknowledged."
