More turn to thrifting during pandemic

More turn to thrifting during pandemic By Ron Rocky Coloma While national retail sales show that consumers bought less apparel during the pandemic, secondhand sales indicate many turned to thrifting. A recent report commissioned by the secondhand marketplace ThredUP and the research firm GlobalData estimates the secondhand market will double in the next five years, reaching $77 billion. Monica Aslian, a recent Tiyan High School graduate from Barrigada, is one of the 33 million consumers the report indicated bought secondhand clothing for the first time in 2020. “I learned about it through social media and my peers. Kari Rudd adding that an official announcement of the new location and opening date expected will be made public soon after. The current Tamuning location, which it moved to in 2017, has been limited. This lead to having to decline donations. “We need to expand because we need to make more money so that we’re actually solvent, said Rudd. The Salvation Army runs on a deficit, so our Divisional Headquarters and Territorial Headquarters actually cover the expenses of what we give to the community on Guam.
