South Bend-based Claeys Candy plans to leave its longtime home south of downtown and build a modern $8 million production facility in the Blackthorn area. Company President Gregg Claeys said his grandfather, Jerome Claeys, founded the company in 1919 in two rented garages on North Blaine Avenue on the cityรขยยs northwest side.
