STRAFFORD — Voters in Strafford on Tuesday opted to authorize cannabis retailers in town when sales of recreational amounts of marijuana becomes legal in 2022 in a 293-176 vote.
Residents also voted 399-70 to accept a donation of 106.7 acres of land in Strafford from the Alliance for Vermont Communities. Sharon voters later this spring will decide whether to do the same with 150 adjoining acres. Together they comprise the Ashley Community Forest. The proposed donation to the two towns includes $20,000 to seed a management fund.
Both the $1.15 million town budget (434-29) and the $3.35 million school budget (388-77) easily passed.
