As many as 429,000 Southern California properties have an 80% or higher chance of flooding by 2053.

The study shows water would back up and flow into neighborhoods directly south of the area, including Tijuana's "tolerance zone" where many bars, brothels and strip joints are located.

Even under modest flooding, if the border wall fails to open during rain, downtown Tijuana could be underwater. 

Documents show that two federal agencies have been at odds over the border wall project across the Tijuana River Valley since it was first announced in August of 2020.

Researchers say flooding from a 100-year storm could impact up to 1 million people in and around Los Angeles, 30 times more than previously estimated.
