Part 16 in a series: Old News is paraphrasing "Billy of Arkansas," a novel by Bernie Babcock that was serialized by the Arkansas Democrat in 1922.

John Bierce has just carried Billy Camelton upstairs against her will, kissed her full on the mouth and plopped her into a sitting room chair in a most un-grandfatherly manner. "You have spoiled everything," she tells him.

Continuing our trek here through Bernie Babcocks 1922 ... oh, lets call "Billy of Arkansas" a novella. Today we come to a moment of romantic peril.

The impetuous heroine of Bernie Babcocks "Billy of Arkansas" has discovered to her sincere dismay that the womens workhouse in New York is as dangerous as the night court judge warned her it would be. She regrets not trusting him.

Somehow, Old News has arrived at part 12 in our effort to paraphrase "Billy of Arkansas," a love story by Bernie Babcock (1868-1962). The Arkansas Democrat serialized this novel in 1922, using more than twice that many installments, so were being efficient.
