Wheaton leaders will gather Saturday to celebrate the completion of a $35 million project downtown.

With more electric vehicles purring along roadways, charging stations are key to widespread acceptance by skeptical motorists. Surprisingly, cyclists are already blessed with free "charging stations" scattered throughout the Chicago area.

A permanent canopy structure now being built in a municipal parking lot will house the Wheaton French market and other events. The $1.1 million structure will create another focal point downtown, one of the final elements of a $35 million streetscape and infrastructure project thats winding down after four-and-a-half years of construction.
