Heirs of two sisters who gave the Pike-Fletcher-Terry House to the city of Little Rock in 1964 have no legal right to an endowment established 20 years later to pay for maintenance and operation of the historic mansion, according to a filing Wednesday in Pulaski County Circuit Court.
The Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts rejected blame for the deteriorating Pike-Fletcher-Terry mansion gifted to Little Rock 57 years ago for the museum's use, saying Wednesday that it "does not own the building and has no contractual responsibility to operate or maintain it."
They claim the city and the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts are in violation of an agreement to maintain the Pike-Fletcher-Terry House and use it for public purposes.
Ownership of one of the oldest homes in Little Rock the Pike-Fletcher-Terry House should revert to the descendants of the sisters who donated it to the city and the "Arkansas Arts Center" in 1964, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday in Pulaski County Circuit Court.
