A shakeup in the leadership of the NSW electrical union may give the left faction of the Australian Labor Party a bigger say in the future direction of the party and its policies.
The Electrical Trade Union’s national secretary Allen Hicks, who is on the party’s left, has taken over the NSW leadership on an interim basis after NSW branch secretary Justin Page stepped down. The leadership change is expected to be formalised when the ETU executive meets on Monday night.
