Yerevan, Armenia: It has been almost a year as people of the world continue to support Ukraine and strongly condemn Russia, calling its invasion “an unprovoked and unjustified military aggression.” Not far from Ukraine another tragedy continues: Azerbaijan’s military aggression against Armenia.

Woodside: Re “State pols vote ‘yes’ on getting $32K pay bump” (Dec. 23): Looking at the bleak economic indicators on the Main Street for the affordability of daily groceries and basic necessities across the nation, I am astounded by the humongous salary hike New York state lawmakers have awarded themselves making them the highest paid legislators in the nation.

Stamford, Conn.: I was hit with outrage and disbelief when I read your Nov. 17 article, “Pickpocket with 60 arrests nabbed in fare-beating try at downtown station.” Sometimes the smaller headlines speak the loudest and this one is a doozie. I hope that Gov. Hochul and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (photo) read the Daily News because if they do, I can’t see how they can possibly continue to support bail reform or a continued limp approach to law enforcement.

Brooklyn: As a native New Yorker, I and all other New Yorkers have been exposed, involuntarily, to Donald Trump’s publicity-seeking shenanigans for decades. I got this snake-oil salesman’s number long ago. He has conducted his life as a bigot, crooked businessman and white-collar thief with deep financial ties to Russia.

Manhattan: Before being catapulted in shipping crates onto highway 54 in Danville, Pa. (”All monkeys that escaped Pennsylvania truck crash accounted for,” Jan. 22), 100 monkeys spent 19 hours as cargo on a flight from Mauritius in East Africa to JFK.

Manhattan: I was disappointed to read an opinion piece that unfortunately deeply misrepresents our current plans for Governors Island (“For Governors Island, the wrong way forward,” Feb. 28). Our vision with the city for a Climate Solutions Center not only reflects uses long envisioned for the island but will expand educational and job opportunities around emerging climate-related fields, grow public programming and create solutions for one of the pressing challenges of our time.

Poestenkill, N.Y.: We hope the Daily News Editorial Board will urge President Biden to take executive action on climate change. We have to make up for the four years we just lost to avoid climate collapse.
