Authorities say Ashinay Horton-Starks fled the state after the shooting and remained on the run for seven months before she was arrested.

Marshawn McNair spoke Tuesday at the sentencing of Ashinay Horton-Starks in Macomb County Circuit Court for the shooting death of Johnice Clark, 26, in June 2021 while both were in separate vehicles near 12 Mile and Schoenherr roads.

Horton-Starks was a fugitive for nearly seven months before being apprehended by U.S. Marshals in late December 2021 in Bismark, N.D.

Ashinay Horton-Starks, 23, is wanted for allegedly killing a woman during an argument at a June party in Warren.

WARREN — Police investigating a shooting that left a 23-year-old woman dead in June have made an arrest in the case and have now named two more suspects, including the alleged shooter.

The victim, identified as Johnice Clark, was shot after leaving a party Saturday night, police said.
