The Helias Crusaders were a bit uncharacteristic in their play Monday night. It paid off with a victory. “We haven’t attacked the goal this season, but both of those goals came because we attacked the goal,” Helias coach Jon DeSha said after the Crusaders defeated the Jefferson City Jays 2-1 in Central Missouri Activities Conference soccer action at Jefferson City High School. “They were good goals.”

If Thursday night’s match happens to be the last one at home for the Helias Lady Crusaders’ group of seven seniors, Dani Buker made it one to remember. Buker assisted on the first two goals of the match against the Hickman Kewpies and iced the contest with a late goal, ending the Lady Crusaders’ regular season with a 3-1 victory in Central Missouri Activities Conference play at the Crusader Athletic Complex.

There was no panic. “I have enough confidence in my players that even if we fall behind, we would be able to come back,” Helias coach Jon DeSha said Wednesday night after the Lady Crusaders defeated the Jefferson City Lady Jays 4-1 in Central Missouri Activities Conference soccer action at the Crusader Athletic Complex.

One side left Monday night celebrating a strong come-from-behind victory. The other left wondering what else could go wrong this season. Missing three key seniors, the Jefferson City Jays scored two second-half goals to rally for a 2-1 victory against the Helias Crusaders in Central Missouri Activities Conference action at the Crusader Athletic Complex.
