A Florida man whom detectives accused of using a butcher knife to dismember a man’s body died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the abdomen, according to police.

The “gruesome” discovery was made on Thanksgiving day, deputies said.

Deputies in Citrus County discovered a gruesome scene on Thanksgiving after responding to a well-being check on Thursday after receiving information that a murder had potentially taken place.

Deputies say they found the 75-year-old man in his home and a dismembered body in the trunk of a car.
