According to reports, Gluck succumbed to cancer. Apart from being an eminent poet, Gluck was also a poetry professor at Yale University.

“The advantage of poetry over life is that poetry, if it is sharp enough, may last,” the decorated poet once wrote.

In 2020 she became the first US poet to be awarded the Nobel prize for literature since TS Eliot in 1948.

“It seemed to be extremely unlikely that I would ever have this particular event to deal with in my life.”
