Swiftwolfe heading to trial in N B court

The charges against Swiftwolfe haven’t been proven in court. Multiple RCMP detachments worked together Dec. 5 and 6, 2020, to locate and arrest Swiftwolfe who is from Moosomin First Nation. RCMP and Moosomin First Nation had issued a public safety warning saying Swiftwolfe was armed and dangerous.  When describing him police said he has “Westside” tattooed on his face. RCMP say that when officers activated their lights and sirens in an attempt to stop Swiftwolfe, he refused to stop and fled at a high rate of speed. Police say that due to his violent nature they initiated a pursuit. Officers from the RCMP Crime Reduction Team, which specializes in gang activity, successfully deployed a tire deflation device at the Table Mountain turnoff on Highway 40 east of Sweetgrass First Nation.

Swiftwolfe pleads not guilty

Swiftwolfe has been in custody since multiple RCMP detachments – including the North Battleford RCMP Gang Task Force - teamed up to locate and arrest him. Swiftwofe was arrested on Highway 40 near Sweetgrass First Nation on Dec. 6, 2020. When police arrested him they found a loaded firearm in the vehicle that was within his reach. When RCMP issued the public warning about Swiftwolfe, in describing him they said he has the word “Westside” tattooed on the right side of his face and neck. Westside Outlaws is a street gang that started in Onion Lake Cree Nation.The charges against Swiftwolfe haven’t been proven in court.

Complexity of case and number of charges against Swiftwolfe cause court delays

Swiftwolfe had another appearance scheduled in North Battleford Provincial Court on Jan. 28, 2021, and the matter was adjourned to Feb. 19 due to the number of charges he is facing and the complexity of the case. The adjournment was at the request of Swiftwolfe’s legal aid defence lawyer. Swiftwolfe was wanted since April 2020 for breaching his probation conditions and he was considered armed and dangerous. He was wanted on warrants for charges including seven counts of failure to comply with a probation order, possession of a weapon contrary to a probation order, two counts of flight from police, two counts of assault, two counts of uttering threats, dangerous operation of a vehicle, operating a vehicle while prohibited, mischief, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Bail hearing adjourned for Moosomin First Nation man

His bail hearing was adjourned to Jan. 19 in North Battleford Provincial Court. Moosomin First Nation is about 22 kilometres north of North Battleford.  

Woman arrested by N B RCMP gang unit fails to appear in court

Fox was arrested on Dec. 6 after several RCMP detachments teamed up to locate and arrest Jonathan Swiftwolfe, 26. At the time of her arrest last month, Fox was wanted on warrants for assault with a weapon and failure to comply with a release order. Fox and Swiftwolfe were arrested on Highway 40, near Sweet Grass First Nation. Swiftwolfe had evaded police since North Battleford RCMP charged him for breaching his probation conditions on April 18, 2020. When police arrested Swiftwolfe, they found a loaded firearm in the vehicle within his reach. Swiftwolfe is facing more than 35 charges. He had another show cause hearing on Jan. 6 but wasn’t released on bail. His bail hearing was adjourned in North Battleford Provincial Court to Jan. 14.
