The Grinch was driving a Honda CR-V when he lost control and struck a sign and a mailbox.

Photos from the venue shared by Exeter police on Wednesday show the Grinch perched on the driver's seat of a damaged SUV and looking at his phone.

An Exeter man dressed as the Grinch escaped serious injury in a Christmas night crash on Newfields Road, police said.

A man in full Grinch gear was outside his SUV when Exeter Police arrived at the crash scene late in the afternoon on Christmas Day.

Exeter Police responded to the site of the crash a little before 6 p.m. on Christmas to find not a shining sleigh and Santa but, instead, a very beat-up silver Honda CRV and a fully costumed Grinch behind the wheel.

Although he didn’t quite steal Christmas, he did destroy a brand-new sign from a New Hampshire business.
