The Rivers State Police Command on Tuesday confirmed the release of a lecturer at the University of Port Harcourt, Dr Jones Ayouwo, who was abducted by gunmen three weeks ago.
Ayouwo, a senior lecturer in the Department of Linguistics and Communication Studies, was kidnapped on February 21, 2021 on Bori Road in the Khana Local Government Area on his way from a Bible translation meeting.
A spokesman for the state police command, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement, said the victim was released unhurt on Monday night, adding that the kidnappers took to flight on sighting the police.
