One more quiet and warm afternoon is ahead. The next storm system will race through the region on Wednesday.

With an overnight risk for severe thunderstorms, be sure you have a way to receive alerts such as the WBRZ WX App or a NOAA Weather Radio. Know that we will likely face several threats for severe weather in the coming weeks, given the time of year, but we should give respect to each event.  

A period of relatively quieter weather is expected in the wake of Tuesday morning thunderstorms. The next chance of rain will come with a cold front early Friday morning.

A disturbance will cross over the area on Tuesday evening with some showers and a few thunderstorms. We are watching a strong front, which will bring much colder temperatures for the weekend.

The fire burned near neighborhoods off Dunn Road northeast of Denham Springs Tuesday afternoon.

Cooler air will spill into the area overnight. Another frontal system will cause some pockets of rain this weekend.

A record high-low and record high could both fall on Friday. A cold front will bring a stormy start to the weekend.  

The end of the week will feature much warmer temperatures. The next cold front will bring widespread rain and thunderstorms at the beginning of the weekend.

The warmest hours of the day usually occur in the late afternoon when the earth has had the longest possible exposure to the sun’s rays.
