Reporter good morning, well this interstate is a main route between california and arizona. And engineers will assess the damage to the bridge this morning. The collapse is being blamed on heavy rains and flooding that shut down the freeway. The bridge 50 miles west of the Arizona State line washed away. Traffic headed toward arizona was forced to turn around. One driver was injured. The Riverside County Fire Department had to extract that driver who crashed in the collapse. Rain, thunder and lightning fell over Southern California in a rare summer storm system. This caused power outages, downed trees, water rescues, and beach closures. Firefighters worked to keep mud out of half a dozen homes. Theres firefighters out there as well as a lot of heavy Equipment Operators that are trying to get that mud and debris up. The victims ranged from six months to six years old. J. R police have not released a motive or cause of death. Vicki Concord Police are investigating a shooting that happened around 6 30 this evening. On concord boulevard near kirker pass road. Police say a 19yearold woman was driving away from a residence when someone shot towards her car. Neither the victim nor her car were hit by gunfire. Concord boulevard was closed for a short period during part of the investigation. Police did not find any suspects.
