In the Women’s Synagogue/In der vayber shul, a new work by composer and scholar Jeremiah Lockwood will revisit the traditions of khazentes, the female pop stars of 20th Century Yiddish music. It will premiere at Yale on April 1 and be performed in New York City on April 2.

“Isolated and alone in an industrial and hyper-masculine world, it’s the story of someone’s struggle to discover their truth,” says Brown.

Christopher at Sea is the only U.S. short selected for this year’s festival, and the only animated film in the Orizzonti competition section.
