Political speeches. Thats what congress had in the reform effort years and years ago, but at the same time the one thing thats clear is that no Government Entity is allowed to make decisions about employment or anything like that based on the politics or the political views or the social views of their employees. I mean, thats analogous to the controversy that now raises about the Internal Revenue service. The Internal Revenue service has a lot of power and a lot of authority, but theres no argument, you cant even make an argument that they are allowed to take into account the political views of the taxpayers. Thats just off the table, and it is indefensible. And so, when something comes up of that sort, it is a scandal. But if it came up in the of the context that you raised first, its just part of life in america. Ladies and gentlemen, on that note, floyd has kindly agreed to sign his book. Again, critics have given it an incredible review, and its just a breathtaking book. Ive read
Period Queen Victoria reigned, 18371901. Im not very technical, i cheat a lot, so my books cover what we politely cover the long 19th century which sometimes starts in the 18th century, so sometimes i discuss things that happened in the runup to Queen Victoria and often it goes to the beginning of world war i in 1914 which is, actually, a much more logical break when things changed very radically again. Host was it known as the Victorian Era at that time . Guest um, a little bit. Not the way we know it, no. Because apart from anything else, of course, its much easier to call something an era once you know when its going to end, and they department, and they didnt they didnt, and they didnt know it was going to be one of the longest reigns in british history and cover, really, the greater part of a century. You couldnt imagine that would happen. Host why was it one of the greatest periods guest no, just the longest. Host longest periods. Guest i like the victorians, but not everybody do
They argue over contemporary history. We dont have the ability to have a speedy analysis. The way i recognize this is this is my submission as the draft, political and organizational report of the last 30 years for my friends who are involved in different movements, and im hoping very much that they will read it, trash it, say this is wrong, this is wrong, but reflect on the contemporary history in order to think through strategy. Its not worth having a strategy thats not working and pursue the strategy. That is like that would be basically one needs to have constant rethinking of strategy, not based on what you are doing, but on the dynamics in which you are involved. Part of the story is to root what we are doing in dynamics. Im very much looking forward to people trashing the book because only then i know its helpful in some way. Thanks a lot. [applause] you from the an newspaper american librarian associations conference, a panel of librarians from throughout the country present th

Next, michael levi argues instead of viewing our Energy Future as a fight between Clean Renewable Energy and traditional fuel sources, americans should figure out a way to develop both and use the rising prices of the latter as a Funding Source for the former. He spoke at the World Affairs council of houston. This is about an hour. Okay. A couple of weeks ago i actually realize a book. [laughter] not a Financial Statement report, not a printout of a sack of emails, not an industry magazine but an actual book with a hard cover and nice pages. Its actually an enjoyable experience. I suggest you try it sometime. Its entitled the power surge, by dr. Michael levin. Ive had the pleasure of r
Wrote this their diaries, saw Charles Dickens in the street today. This is what he looks like. And you could follow their descriptions, which was great. I used him partly because it was the 200th anniversary, and my publisher taught it would be a great idea, but that was a little part. What he actually said to me was all your books are a disguised love letter to dickens, why dont you just let your head go and really use him . So i did. Host was he right . Guest he was right. Host why . Guest i think dickens was one of the greatest writers ever. Horrible man. Horrible man. But one of the greatest writers ever. I reread his books more than almost anything. Host is there a typical, for that book, is there a typical life that you can describe, a victorian life . Guest um, i think that the typical lives, if you want, are the lives of what in those days would have either been called the working poor or the lower middle classes. One of the things that was so remarkable to me and, actually, ta
