A fire broke out at a grocery shop on the ground floor of a three-storey building in the Raviwar Peth area of Pune City on Monday morning, said officials

The fire was reported at a shop on the ground floor of a four-storeyed commercial building at the Bohri Ali market in Pune.

No casualties were reported in the blaze at the shop located inside Clover Centre shopping-cum-residential complex though the materials stored inside the store were completely destroyed, said Pune Fire Brigade that sprung into action to douse the blaze around 3.30 am.

Pune Fire Brigade Chief Devendra Potphode said that the preventive countermeasures to these fires are centred around three concepts: load management, maintenance and preparedness.

While no casualties or injuries were reported in the accident, officials said that the restaurant suffered heavy property damages in the blaze.  

Prima-facie, firecrackers is suspected to be the cause behind the fire, as per the statement released by the Pune Fire Brigade

The storage facility had more than 100 gas cylinders, according to Pune fire brigade officials.

The fire broke out on December 8 afternoon in the unit that specialised in making sparkling candles used in birthday celebrations.
